Mission Statement

Destine Preparatory Charter School develops scholars in K-5th grade to become future change makers through rigorous academics, social and emotional learning, and affirmation of their identities.

OUR CORE VALUES

OUR CORE VALUES

Robust Curriculum

Our classrooms are designed to meet all children at their level and guide them in becoming critical and flexible thinkers. We believe every child learns best when they're fully engaged in their own learning experience and working at their optimal instructional level, so we have designed our technology to support this belief.

Relationship Building

We center all of our work around equity, so that all people are respected and all voices are uplifted. We also bring a sense of joy to the work we do together as a community, because our collective humanity is a source of strength.

Community Partnerships

It is important for each family and community member to have a sense of belonging at our school. Each person should feel safe to ask questions, share ideas and support staff members in the essential work required to educate our students. It is essential that each family and community member has a voice about important decisions affecting the success of our students.

Character Development

From Kindergarten through 5th grade, we're firm believers in building big ideas! Our classrooms allows students to take ownership of their learning process with multiple solutions to any problem.

Equity Vision Statement

At Destine Preparatory Charter School we acknowledge the many identity markers of our students, staff, and community. We are an anti-racists school - all individuals are  shown care, given an equitable chance to succeed, and appreciated for their experiences and perspective of the world. We embrace culture as something that makes each individual unique and something that connects all of our personhood.

A Note from Our Founder

We are so eager to do the work of building a school in the community of Schenectady. We believe that educational equity is one of the ways we can solve issues that continue to plague our country, such as systematic racism. We believe that by offering our students many opportunities to critically think about the world, we will expand scholars’ worlds while helping frame for them their role as leaders in the community and globally.

We are excited to work with you, get to know you and get your feedback. We know that building a community school means we put the thoughts, ideas, and needs of the community first.  We also recognize the big asks that we have of you. If you are able to volunteer at an event for us,  if you are able to gather parents to talk about the design of the school, if you are able to help us connect to other people and resources, if you want to be apart of our school board or founding team,  we want to hear from you!
